8 BOOKS TO COZY UP AND READ THIS FALL!

My main goal this summer was to read, and that’s exactly what I did and I did it as much as I could!! I told Seth a few months ago that I didn’t want to be on my phone as much, especially if it was just mindless scrolling. I wanted to put my phone down and enjoy the moment and do something more productive. So why not read?! I read 8 very good books in the past few months and several of these are wonderful books to read now, and especially as we enter the fall, chilly months!! I’m a fall/winter fanatic and cozying up with a good book, fluffy blanket, and cup of tea or coffee is the epitome of fall for me! If you’re interested in buying the book or reading about it a little bit more, click on the title or the photo of the book! It will take you to Amazon! This post contains affiliate links.

The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews

I would consider this book to be a chick literature book. It’s just a really light and fun read! I love reading books about the lives of rich, southern people LOL. It’s about this lady who is traveling to her yearly summer vacationing spot, Belle Isle, South Carolina. While on the way to the island, on the ferry boat, she is served papers and assumes they are divorce papers. From here her life starts crumbling. Her husband was supposed to meet them at the ferry boat, but doesn’t show. They’re unable to get into their vacation home. A murder happens. Family secrets are revealed. Just one thing after the other! I loved all the different aspects of the story! There’s love and murder. Loved it!

Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda

I loved this one! It was a great physiological thriller told by the point of view of one of the main characters. This story is told by an unreliable narrator and that’s what makes it so intriguing to me. Paul and his wife, Mia, seem like the perfect couple. They are getting away for the weekend and heading to their lake house a few hours from their Ohio hometown. Everything seems normal between them, but as the day unfolds, you learn more and more about the couple and things just don’t seem right. The whole book takes place over the course of one day. I loved this book and highly recommend if you’re wanting a good thriller!

All By Myself, Alone by Mary Higgins Clark

I consider most MHC books to be cozy mysteries and this one definitely falls under that category. The main character is fleeing from a very embarrassing and horrible event that took place in her life and decides to accept the offer of being a speaker on a new luxury cruise line discussing her knowledge of gems and jewelry. 3 days into the cruise someone shows up dead on the cruise ship and the only people who could be responsible is someone on board. I didn’t expect the ending! It was so good and an easy read!

The Kind Worth Killing by Paul Swanson

Guys. This one is crazy!! It’s a wonderful physiological thriller. On a flight home from London to Boston, a man meets a stunning and mysterious woman at an airport bar and start chatting. Before too long the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. One thing leads to another and the man admits to the woman he’d like to kill his wife because he knows she’s having an affair. And that’s just the beginning of the book! This is one of the best books I’ve ever read!!! So much happens in the book that you would NOT expect. I read it on the plane ride home from Hawaii.

The Girl Before by JP Delaney

Another psychological thriller because, duh, those are my favorites if you can’t tell! This one is actually going to be made into a movie! I can’t wait for that! This story is told from two points of view. Emma, a girl who lived at One Folgate Street, and then Jane, who lives in One Folgate Street after Emma. Jane finds out that Emma actually died at the house and she wants to figure out why because some of the things about the house and details about the death just don’t make sense. So Jane starts to investigate and the more she finds out the more dangerous it gets! The ending shocked me!!! I didn’t see it coming. Put it on your list now!

The President Is Missing by James Patterson & Bill Clinton

I love me a good political drama and this one kept me on my toes the whole time. It follows the President and it seems that America is in big trouble. If he doesn’t figure out how to fix the issue or what to do, then America is at extreme risk for what they call “The Dark Ages.” This one really makes you think too! This book also takes place over the course of just 3 days! This book has several twists that I was not expecting either! Highly recommend!

When Life Gives You Lululemons by Lauren Weisberger

O.M.G. If you read any books from this post, PLEASE read this one!
It was my favorite, and it was hilarious! I laughed out loud several times! It’s about 3 completely different women and their lives. One is an image consultant for stars whose careers are going down the drain and due to her being “old,” a new up and coming consultant keeps taking her clients. The second woman is a successful lawyer turned suburban mom living the life of spin classes, brunches, wearing Lululemon from head to toe, and bringing nannies in to raise the kids. The third is a model turned senator’s wife who gets busted for a DUI (maybe?) and is convinced her life is over. This is the author who wrote the book the The Devil Wear Prada, which was later turned into a movie! It’s actually the third book in the series, but you don’t have to have read the other two before reading this one.

Spring Fever by Mary Kay Andrews

And lastly, I downloaded this as an audiobook on my drive home from Nashville last week and I was hooked! I loved it so much! It was funny and pretty dramatic haha! The narrator had great voices and it was easy to follow, but also the story was super cute! It’s about a woman who attends her ex husband’s new wedding and a crazy event takes place and the wedding doesn’t end up taking place that day. Anna Jane, the main character, is engaged to someone else, but now since the ex husband’s wedding has been called off, she’s conflicted! There’s family drama and an evil step mom and a huge twist I didn’t see coming! This would be a good book to listen to while cleaning the house or doing laundry!

Comment below and let me know your thoughts on any of these books if you’ve read them or what you’re currently reading and loving!

  1. I love to read! And this summer I have just been picking an aisle in the library and trying out new authors. I like easy reads as well as those that will keep my mind engaged. Fav authors are James Patterson and Nicholas Sparks. I am definitely going to pick up a couple of the books you have mentioned here. Thanks for sharing!
