Our Weekend in Nashville

Seth and I decided to get out of town this past weekend because we needed to get away after we lost our Roon. We originally wanted a secluded cabin in the woods- no wifi, bring all of our food, read, do word searches, drink coffee- just have a super chill, relaxing weekend. Well, I kid you not, but every single cabin in Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, and Mississippi was taken! It was either a tiny shed for $30 a night or a glorious, giant log cabin on a cliffside for $1000 a night. After searching for three days, we took a different approach and decided to find a cozy loft in Nashville. This was definitely a very leisurely trip for us. We stayed at the loft a lot, slept in, ate, and shopped. All restaurants and bars closed at 10pm, so there wasn’t much of a night life going on. We are still not comfortable being around groups of people, so turning in early was not a problem for us! Plus, we are major old people at heart and will pick a cozy night in over going out any day!

We found our loft through Airbnb. It was in the most perfect location. During normal times, it would be even more wonderful because it is within walking distance of everything on Broadway. If you want the link to it, message me on Instagram and I will send it to you!

Where We Ate

We ate at a few different places while in Nashville and want to share our top three favorites.

Husk Nashville– Seth has been dying to eat at this restaurant because it is owned by his favorite chef Sean Brock. He was actually featured on the Netflix show Chef’s Table. This is probably the best meal we have ever had! Everything was exceptional! We started out with the bacon jam pimento cheese. It was to die for! I got the shrimp and grits. Seth got the strip steak with roasted okra, charred onion & jalapeno, and marrow butter. Everything was cooked perfectly. It was soooooooooo good. They have their own garden and source the products they can’t grow from local farmers. 14/

10!

Bartaco– If we are ever close to a Bartaco, I insist we go because it is just so good. We ate at one in DC last year and Seth and I have been hooked ever since. They are known for their tiny street tacos. After eating their delicious chips, guac, and salsas, I can eat 3 tacos. But they are like 2 or 3 bites worth. Our personal favorite is the mojo pork. The flavors are just insane. We’ve tried to replicate it at home and have gotten close, but it’s not quite there just yet! Seth and I both had the lobster and fried oyster taco. While this time, I tried the portabella taco (YUM) and Seth got the mojo pork. We had to wait a while to get a table since they aren’t seating at capacity yet, but it was worth the wait.

Biscuit Love– I think this restaurant is like the most popular place in Nashville haha. They are known for their chicken and biscuits open faced style. We wanted to eat here Saturday morning, but the line was way to long, so we decided to go somewhere else. The line was also long on Sunday morning as well, so we had the genius idea to order it ahead of time and go pick it up! I was afraid it would be way over hyped, but we were pleasantly surprised! The chicken was super tender, and the gravy was delicious. The biscuit was interesting and not what I expected, but it was really good and we enjoyed our little car picnic!

Where We Shopped

I wanted to go to a few stores in Nashville- Uncommon James, Kittenish, and Urban Outfitters because we were really close to them. I got a super cute necklace at UJ. I wanted something I could wear all the time and that would go with everything! I didn’t have any luck at Kittenish, although the store had several super cute items. At UO I found THE cutest scrunchies. They are so big and look adorable in your hair. I’ve seen a few people talk about them on insta and I got a white one and a pink floral one. I will link them here! Also found a super cute butterfly graphic tee!

Not thinking clearly, we decided to go to the Opry Mills Mall and right as we pulled in remembered it was tax free weekend. We decided to brave the crowd anyway and see if we could find anything. Seth and I found a couple things at J Crew, and I ended up getting a bag for work at Kate Spade because they were having an insane sale. I hope to use it to transport papers, my iPad, and gradebook back and forth from school!

Overall we had a great, relaxing weekend. I did a lot of reading and Seth watched a few movies. We enjoyed each other’s company and just did whatever we pleased. I know that Nashville has a lot to offer and there are tons of things to do, and I know we will be back to enjoy more of what it has to offer!
