Last month, I had the opportunity to travel with Seth to Washington D.C. while he completed classes and schooling for his job. It finally worked out where I could go with him since, this time, his school fell on my spring break! There is so much to do and see and one of the many pluses of D.C. is most of the museums and monuments are FREE! We visited the Air and Space Museum, Natural History Museum, and Museum of the Bible. There are sooo many more to see, but those were just the ones at the top of my list.
We did not get to do every single thing I would have liked to because there is just so much to see and we didn’t have a whole lot of time, but that just means we will have to take a trip back I guess!
Everything we did get to see, though, was amazing. Since I am a social studies teacher, seeing all of the historical landmarks and documents I have taught my students about the last few years, was truly the highlight of the trip for me. Seeing the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, White House, and Constitution was so amazing! I would go back again in a heartbeat!
Another thing Seth and I love is food. We live for trying different restaurants and local places that we don’t get to experience every day. A personal favorite of the trip was Farmers, Fishers, Bakers. The atmosphere was great. The place was packed on a Monday night, and the food was my favorite of the whole week! We also enjoyed Filomena’s, a presidential favorite with a very extravagant atmosphere. It was decorated with giant easter bunnies and eggs! I would highly recommend these places!
There are so many activities and attractions in D.C. and it makes a wonderful family trip! Definitely pack a comfy pair of shoes if you go, since you’ll be doing a ton of walking!! xoxo
